Strawberry and Nutella French Toast

Eve 11/08/13

Oh hello there...

Don' you look yummy!
Think breakfast. Are you thinking cereal, toast? This is breakfast, over the top! Sheer decadence but hey, not bad for you! This is the equivalent of having an egg with a slice toast and strawberries with nutella. That sounds good.
After making this "special" toast for breakfast, I wrote down the recipe and headed to the computer and googled it. No results of the same recipe, yes!

This is a easy recipe with great results. Eggy bread, googy nutella and sweet strawberries, what's not to like? It's even better if you slice your bread for the toast a day before, it helps soak up the egg and keeps the nutella and strawberries from absorbing into the bread. You want the nutella to be a filling rather than in the bread, why? Because the choco-nutty spread exploded in your mouth.

A couple of ingredients in this delectable toast;
1. Bread - already sounds good
2. Nutella - how much do you want?
3. Strawberries - ditto
4. Egg - from my lovely chickens
5. Milk - just a splash

That's it, yay!

There is a way to cook this toast, you must be careful. It feels devastating when the filling leaks out and you are left with burnt nutella on your frying pan so take your time with your toast.

This is the perfect lazy brunch or uber good breakfast, it's filling and yummy and to great get you going.  Easy to prepare and even easier to eat, uh oh...
When I googled this recipe, recipes came up but they weren't the same; the french toast was made and then filled or there would just be nutella in the filling.

I LOVE nutella and I basically love it with anything. Strawberries, marshmallow, banana, peanut butter and even, wait for it....Cocktail sausages! < Can't believe I tried that...
If you are allergic to nuts, feel free to replace the nutella with regular choco spread or even grated chocolate.

Try different combos like:
- PB and fluff
- Nutella and PB
- Banana and honey
- Banana and PB
- Choco spread and orange
The choice is yours!
Picture time!

Recipe time, Enjoy your toast!

PB = peanut butter

Strawberry and Nutella French Toast
Posted By Eve
Serves 1
  • 2 Thin slices of bread like bloomer, baguette
  • 1 -3 Big Strawberries, sliced plus extra to serve
  • 1 tbsp. Nutella
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 tbsp. Milk
  • 1/2 tsp. Oil
  1. First, assemble the toast; spread one side of each piece of bread with nutella.
  2. Layer on the sliced strawberries on top of one slice of bread and add the other slice of bread to make a nutella and strawberry sandwich. Make sure there is one layer of strawberry.
  3. Whisk together the egg and milk in a flat dish and add the sandwich and leave to soak up the egg. Flip and let the bread soak up some more.
  4. Heat the oil in a small frying pan and use a pastry bread to spread the oil around. Add the egg sandwich and gently cook on medium heat for 3 minutes, flip and cook for another 3 minutes.
  5. Remove from the pan and place it on some kitchen paper to absorb the oil. Serve with extra strawberries.

The toast should be eaten straight after cooking like this >

  1. Nothing wrong with this...looks so delicious. Need some of that Nutella!

    1. I always have nutella, as you can see. The toast is great for the nutella as it become soft and runny. I have yet to meet a person who doesn't like nutella. Thanks for looking at my blog. :-)
